Geographic Location
TEDA is the center of Bohai Sea Economic Ring, the east endpoint of Eurasia Land Bridge, the gateway to Beijing, Tianjin and northeast part of China, and the core of Tianjin Binhai New Area. The Bohai Sea Economic Ring is a densely populated “gold zone” where many cities are concentrated, economy is developed and people have a strong willingness to pay. Within a 500-kilometer radius of TEDA are 17% of the nation’s population and 11 big cities, each of which has a population of over 1 million (32 of Chinese cities have a population of over 1 million each). Just Beijing and Tianjin have a combined population of over 20 million. This privileged geographic location gives TEDA an upper hand in the fight to snatch China’s fast emerging markets, particularly those in the northern part of the country. The fully developed industrial capabilities of Beijing and Tianjin provide a strong support to TEDA’s industrial development, making it easy for TEDA to find appropriate raw materials and spare parts suppliers.
